Adult ADHD services present a significant challenge to commissioners and service providers alike. Working with stakeholders across the North West Coast, Health Innovation North West Coast has facilitated a redesign that integrates services between primary and secondary care. The future state service model demonstrates how technology and new roles can increase access to the service and service user needs without traditional additional workforce burden.

We are now supporting Cheshire & Merseyside ICB with the implementation of this model. We have undertaken baseline reviews across place and providers to inform a local implementation plan, as well as pre-roll out activity in relation to the objectives of this plan. We are aiming to have the model fully implemented across the ICB by the end of 2026.
We are also leading a National test and evaluate programme. This builds upon the work we have done to design and implement the new service model in Cheshire & Merseyside ICB, working across 5 regions of England to adopt the model as additional sites for a National evaluation. The model introduces a primary care led service that looks to create time back to care, save money, align with policy objectives and most importantly improve the lives of people living with ADHD through earlier access to support.
