The Coaching Academy is pleased to offer a brand-new learning programme free to members of the Q community and those wishing to join.

Coaching for Quality Improvement gives participants the coaching skills necessary to bring your team on a change journey. There is no shortage of Quality Improvement tools and techniques to bring into your workplace; the challenge is how to make them part of your everyday practice. The key to success is your team adopting these tools and techniques – but that can be a daunting prospect, especially if your team is already under significant pressure.

This course aims to equip you with structured, practical coaching approaches that you can adapt to your team’s needs and put to immediate use. We will cover:

  • the benefits of coaching for Quality Improvement in your workplace,
  • starting a change project and maintaining momentum,
  • examining what change approach may work best for your team/project, and
  • how to coach others to empower them to own the change.

You'll have the the opportunity to share knowledge collaborate with other healthcare professionals throughout the north west coast.

This course has no prerequisite. Upon completion, you will leave with a European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) Foundation level coaching qualification.

It is seven months long (May – November 2023) to give you the flexibility to complete the course work and ensure you have a minimum of 10 hours of coaching practice. You also must be able to attend three full-day workshops on Thursday 25th May, Wednesday 21st June, and Wednesday 19th July as well as commit the time to your coaching practice and to complete an assessment portfolio.

Who can apply?

We are looking for those who have Quality Improvement as part of their role, or keen to develop in this area. You do not have to be a line manager to participate in this course. However, to put your learning into practice, you need to plan who you are going to coach. We recommend that you have at least three ‘coachees’. Your coachees need to commit to giving feedback and providing time to be coached.

Programme participants and their coachees MUST either be members of the Health Foundation’s Q Community or apply to join either before or during the course. We will support you in the application process if needed.

Applications for the May to November 2023 programme close on 9th May at 5pm. Please complete an Expression of Interest form via this link.
