Supporting innovators to engage with the NHS and wider health and care system

For many innovators, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, understanding how to engage with the NHS and, demonstrating value and progress towards adoption can be a significant challenge. Excel in Health is a free dedicated support programme designed to help address these barriers.

Through a structured series of modular sessions, the programme provides practical insight into how the NHS operates in practice, how decisions are made, and how innovations move from concept through to adoption and scale.

The programme has been developed to reflect the real-world needs of innovators engaging with the health and care system in England.

Sessions explore areas such as understanding NHS priorities and structures, developing a clear value proposition, navigating commissioning and procurement processes, and building the evidence required to support adoption. There is also a strong focus on emerging requirements, including digital readiness, sustainability and the role of data and real-world evidence in decision-making.

Each session is designed to offer practical, actionable insight, drawing on the experience of system leaders, subject matter experts and organisations who have successfully navigated NHS pathways. Whether you are preparing for an initial pilot, entering procurement discussions, or planning to scale your innovation, Excel in Health provides the knowledge and context needed to engage more effectively with the system.
