Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys gradually lose function due to damage over time. This can make it harder for them to filter waste and excess fluid from the blood, which may lead to a buildup of harmful substances in the body.

CKD increases the risk of other health problems such as cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attack and stroke. Developing CKD is usually a very slow process with very few symptoms at first. However, with proper management many people can live well with the condition.

We are supporting a chronic kidney disease project, with the aim to reduce the progression of this condition to end stage renal disease, including the requirement for dialysis. It focuses on improving earlier diagnosis and supporting early medical treatment for people with CKD to slow disease progression and reduce the development of cardiovascular comorbidity.

Current Programme
