The Business Plan 2020-2021 sets out how the Innovation Agency adapted its role during the first year of the COVID‑19 pandemic, reshaping priorities to support urgent local system needs while continuing to deliver national innovation and improvement programmes.

Written during a period of rapid change, it reflects a decisive shift towards agile, digitally enabled working and close collaboration across sectors.

The plan outlines priorities across patient safety, cardiovascular and respiratory disease, mental health, medicines optimisation, digital transformation, workforce innovation, and support for local systems and economies. It also introduces the organisation’s Innovation Pipeline approach, strengthening how innovations are identified, evaluated and adopted at pace to improve outcomes for patients and communities across the North West Coast.
