Our region benefits from world-class strengths in healthcare, research, industry and technology. But it also suffers from some of England's most significant health challenges. Communities in Lancashire, South Cumbria, Merseyside and Cheshire face complex issues that demand new approaches.
Health and care innovation has the power to tackle those challenges, creating better outcomes for patients while supporting a more sustainable and productive health and care system.
Funded by the NHS and the Office for Life Sciences, we bring together the NHS, universities, industry, local and national government, the voluntary sector, patients and the public to create the conditions in which innovation can thrive.
We help identify unmet needs, develop and test new solutions, generate evidence and accelerate adoption on a broad0+ scale. Our role is to ensure that promising ideas become practical improvements that make a measurable difference to our communities.
The opportunity presented by health innovation is enormous. The accelerated adoption of high-impact innovation could deliver up to £278bn annually through improved population health, workforce productivity and inward investment. This requires collaboration across industry, the NHS, academia and other partners.

Alongside our commissioned programmes, we offer practical support that helps organisations to innovate. We evaluate innovations, build capability through coaching and engagement, support innovators to navigate the health and care system, and help organisations redesign pathways and manage complex change. Our expertise helps partners move confidently from ambition to implementation.

We are one of 15 health innovation networks in England, which were established by NHS England in 2013 to improve health outcomes and boost local economic growth through healthcare innovation.
