Emergency surgery has only in recent times fallen under the spotlight to raise standards and reduce variability in care, but there is still a long way to go.

This study day hosted by The Accociation of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (ACGBI) - North West chapter, in collaboration with the Innovation Agency and the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS) will explore important current issues, update on the latest evidence and will see the launch of a new laparotomy bundle and pathway.

The afternoon session will introduce the Emergency Laparotomy Collaborative which includes a care bundle and pathway to improve mortality from emergency abdominal surgery. You will hear how the care bundle has been successfully implemented in other areas and have the opportunity to consider how it can improve care locally.
