In Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M), the introduction of Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) aligns with NHS priorities to improve productivity, support the workforce, and enhance patient-centred care through the use of digital and AI-enabled technologies.
As AVT is adopted more widely, there is a need for robust, real-world evaluation to understand its impact on clinical workflows, staff and patient experience, documentation quality, productivity, safety, equity, and value for money.
Health Innovation North West Coast (HINWC), working with system partners, will take a co-produced approach to generate evidence on implementation, outcomes, and value. This evaluation will inform local decision-making, support future scaling, and contribute to the wider NHS evidence base.
The evaluation may explore a range of topics, including clinical workflows, staff and patient experience, documentation quality, productivity, safety, equity, implementation, and value for money. However, not all of these areas may be applicable to, or assessed within, every part of the Provider Collaborative at-scale Pilot. The scope and focus of the evaluation will reflect the nature of implementation, stage of deployment, and available data within participating organisations.
Participating organisations should ensure that relevant staff are aware of the Privacy Notice and associated Information Governance arrangements for this evaluation. These documents explain how information will be collected, used, stored, retained, and protected throughout the evaluation.
